How do I track emails sent from Outlook?
Paste an invisible tracking image into the message body and use wrapped short links for your calls to action, each carrying the recipient's token. Outlook sends normally; the tracking records clicks reliably and opens as an estimate, since some mail apps load the image on their own.
Why it matters
No add-in to install
Nothing to install in Outlook and nothing sitting between you and your inbox; the tracking lives in the message you send.
Clicks you can trust, opens honestly labelled
A wrapped link records a real, deliberate tap. An open depends on the mail app loading an image, so it is shown as an estimate, with automatic fetches kept separate.
Per recipient, deliverability untouched
Each recipient carries their own token, so you see who opened and who clicked. directinapp never sends your mail, so your Outlook sender reputation is unchanged.
Set it up
Three steps, no developer
01
Create a campaign and add recipients
Paste addresses, stored only as a hash. Each gets a token woven into the pixel and the links.
02
Copy the two snippets
An invisible open pixel for the HTML body and a wrapped link for your calls to action, both with a per-recipient merge field.
03
Send from Outlook and read the results
Map the merge field to your mail-merge column and send as usual. Read click rate as the reliable number and opens as an estimate.
Watch it end to end: recipients, snippets, per-person results
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does Outlook block email tracking?+
Outlook does not block wrapped links, so click tracking works normally. For opens, some Outlook and Microsoft setups fetch images automatically, so those are counted as machine opens and kept out of the human estimate.
Do I need an Outlook add-in?+
No. Anything that sends HTML mail can carry the pixel, and any email can carry a wrapped link, so no add-in or plugin is required.
Is open tracking accurate in Outlook?+
No tool can make it exact. Image loading varies by client and settings, so opens are always an estimate. Clicks are the reliable signal because they need a deliberate tap.
Will it affect my deliverability?+
directinapp never sends your mail, so your Outlook deliverability and sender reputation are untouched. Keep your links reputable and your list clean, as with any sending.
