ROI vs ROAS, in one line

ROAS is revenue divided by spend, so it counts gross return: ₹30,000 on ₹10,000 is 3×. ROI subtracts the spend first, so the same campaign is a 200% return on profit. ROAS answers “how much came back”; ROI answers “how much of it was profit”.

A calculator only works with the numbers you type. To see the real revenue behind a campaign, each sale has to be tied to the link that drove it, which is what conversion tracking does. To go the other way, from clicks to a rupee value, use the revenue attribution calculator.

Stop estimating your ROI. Measure it.

directinapp ties every sale to the link that drove it, so your ROI is measured from real orders, not a guess at revenue.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate marketing ROI?+

Marketing ROI is (revenue minus spend) divided by spend, as a percentage. If a campaign cost ₹10,000 and earned ₹30,000, the net profit is ₹20,000 and the ROI is 200%. It tells you how much profit each rupee of spend returned.

What is the difference between ROI and ROAS?+

ROAS (return on ad spend) is revenue divided by spend, so ₹30,000 on ₹10,000 is a ROAS of 3, or 3×. ROI subtracts the spend first, so the same numbers are a 200% ROI. ROAS measures gross return; ROI measures profit.

What is a good marketing ROI?+

It depends on your margins and channel, so there is no single number. What matters more is comparing campaigns on the same basis: the one with the higher ROI returned more profit per rupee, whatever the benchmark.

How do I know the real revenue for a campaign?+

A calculator can only work with the numbers you type in. To measure the actual revenue a link or campaign drove, every sale has to be tied back to it, which is what conversion tracking does.
