Conversion tracking

Track Shopify sales from your links

Yes — you can track Shopify sales from your directinapp links today. Connect the Shopify orders/paid webhook with your signing secret in Settings, add dia_slug to the order's note_attributes, and every paid order records a conversion automatically against the link that drove it. It's webhook-based and HMAC-verified, not a one-click native Shopify app, so it never touches your keys or checkout.

Can you track Shopify sales from a link?

Yes. Connect the Shopify orders/paid webhook with your signing secret in directinapp Settings and add dia_slug to the order's note_attributes. Every paid order then records a conversion automatically against that link, with its order count, total rupees and conversion rate. It's HMAC-verified and webhook-based, not a native one-click Shopify app.

Why it matters

01

Rupees per link, not just Shopify clicks

Shopify's own analytics don't tie a sale back to the specific link you shared. directinapp does: each paid order is credited to the link named in its note_attributes, so per link you see order count, total rupees and conversion rate. A link reads as '1,200 clicks, 48 orders, Rs 23,952', not just a click tally.

02

Paid orders auto-capture, no thank-you-page code

Once the orders/paid webhook and signing secret are saved in Settings, every paid Shopify order records a conversion on its own, server-to-server. There is nothing to paste on your thank-you page. directinapp HMAC-verifies each delivery and is idempotent and tenant-safe, so one paid order is exactly one conversion.

03

Honest about the boundary

It stays webhook-based, not a native one-click Shopify app, so it never touches your keys or checkout. Per-click (dia_clid) and per-visitor (dia_vid) attribution tell you which click and which visitor drove each order. Recognising the same shopper across devices is not built, because the dia_vid is cookie-scoped to one browser, so cross-device identity stays on the roadmap.

Set it up

Three steps, no developer

01

Tag the order with your link slug

Send buyers through a directinapp smart link, then carry its slug into the order. On your storefront or checkout, add dia_slug (your link's slug, for example diwali-sale), and optionally dia_clid, to the cart and order note_attributes. That is how each Shopify order tells directinapp which link drove it, with no keys or checkout code to change.

02

Connect the orders/paid webhook in Settings

In Shopify Admin, create a webhook on the orders/paid topic pointing at your directinapp capture URL. Copy Shopify's signing secret and paste both the URL and the secret into directinapp Settings. directinapp HMAC-verifies every delivery and de-duplicates by order, so a paid order records exactly one conversion, tenant-safe and with no code on your thank-you page.

03

Read Shopify sales in the Business tab

Open the Conversions tab on the Business tier to see each link's order count, total rupees, conversion rate, a per-event breakdown, a timeseries and a per-order feed. Totals are kept per currency (INR, USD, EUR, GBP, AED) and never blindly summed. Ingestion is always on; viewing the reports needs Business, and the free early-bird trial month is full Business.

How Shopify tracking records a sale

Shopify order

a sale happens

directinapp

records it

On the roadmap — Still on the roadmap: a native one-click Shopify app (ours stays webhook-based and never touches your keys or checkout), recognising the same shopper across devices (the dia_vid visitor id is cookie-scoped to one browser), and HMAC-signed postbacks (the plain postback is unsigned). Live today: signed Shopify orders/paid webhook auto-capture via note_attributes, the pixel, the postback, the dia.js SDK and per-click/per-visitor attribution.

Frequently asked questions

Can I track Shopify sales from my links?+

Yes, today. Connect the Shopify orders/paid webhook with your signing secret in directinapp Settings and add dia_slug to the order's note_attributes. Every paid order then records a conversion automatically against the link that drove it, with order count, total rupees and conversion rate per link. It's HMAC-verified and idempotent, so one paid order is one conversion.

Is this a native one-click Shopify app?+

No. It's webhook-based, not a native one-click Shopify app, and it never touches your API keys or checkout. You keep your Shopify store exactly as it is: you add dia_slug to the order note_attributes and point the orders/paid webhook at directinapp with your signing secret. A turnkey one-click Shopify app is still on the roadmap.

How does the attribution get into the order?+

You add dia_slug (your link's slug) to the cart and order note_attributes on your storefront, and optionally dia_clid for the exact click. When Shopify fires the orders/paid webhook, directinapp reads dia_slug from note_attributes and credits the conversion to that link. If no slug is in the note, the order can't be attributed, so add it before checkout.

Do I need code on my Shopify thank-you page?+

No. Once the orders/paid webhook and signing secret are set in Settings, paid orders auto-capture server-to-server with no code on the thank-you page. The only setup is adding dia_slug to the order note_attributes so the attribution rides along. If you would rather fire it yourself, the pixel and POST /conversions still work.

Can I see which visitor or click bought?+

Yes, within one browser. If you pass dia_clid in note_attributes and attribution is on, each Shopify order ties back to the click (dia_clid) and a first-party visitor id (dia_vid) for that browser. Because dia_vid is cookie-scoped to one browser, recognising the same shopper across devices is not built yet, so cross-device identity stays on the roadmap.

What does it cost?+

Recording conversions is free, since ingestion is always on for every link on every plan. Viewing the Shopify conversion reports needs the Business tier: Rs 999/mo (anchor Rs 1,999) or Rs 9,999/yr (anchor Rs 19,999), plus GST, via UPI or Razorpay. The early-bird free trial month is full Business, so you can see your Shopify sales before paying.

More on conversion tracking

Conversion tracking

Conversion tracking is measuring the real outcomes a link drives — a sale, a signup, a lead — not just the clicks. You tell your analytics tool "this counts as a conversion, worth this much," and it ties that outcome back to the link that earned it. directinapp does this on every link: fire a pixel, a postback or our drop-in dia.js script when a sale happens, and see the count, the rupee value and the conversion rate for that exact link — right down to which click and visitor drove it.

Instagram sales tracking

Yes — you can track sales and signups from an Instagram bio link or reel. Put your store or checkout behind a directinapp link, fire our pixel on your payment success page, and the Business report shows the count, rupee value and conversion rate that link drove. Even though a bio or reel is one shared link, per-visitor and per-click attribution shows which visitor and which click drove each sale — the visitor id is cookie-scoped to this browser, not the same person across devices.

vs Linktree

Linktree tells you a link got clicked. directinapp tells you it drove 12 purchases worth Rs 5,988. On any link you can fire our tracking pixel or server postback with a sale value, and the Business tier shows conversion count, total value and conversion rate per link, per currency (INR/USD/EUR/GBP/AED). Attribution now runs per-click and per-visitor (dia_clid and dia_vid), and signed webhook auto-capture for Razorpay, Stripe, Shopify and WooCommerce records a paid order automatically.

Tracking pixel

A tracking pixel for links is a tiny 1×1 image you load when a sale happens. Point an img tag at GET /c?s=SLUG&e=purchase&v=499&cur=INR and directinapp records one conversion — with its rupee value — against the link that drove it. No SDK, no cookie, no code beyond one line of HTML.

Server postbacks

A server postback records a conversion by sending a POST /conversions call from your backend to directinapp. You send JSON with the link's slug, an event name, value and currency, and the dashboard shows counts, total value and conversion rate per link. It is shipped and works today. Signed, HMAC-verified postbacks are on the roadmap.

Lead tracking

Yes — you can track leads and signups from any directinapp link today. Fire a "lead" or "signup" event from your form's thank-you page with our pixel or postback, and each link shows its lead count, conversion rate, and a per-event breakdown. Attribution ties each lead to the click and the visitor — a cookie-scoped id for this browser — that drove it; recognising the same person across devices is still on the roadmap.
