Conversion tracking

Conversion tracking vs Bitly: track the sale, not just the click

Conversion tracking vs Bitly comes down to one question: do you want to count clicks, or count the rupees each short link actually earned? Bitly is a great click counter. directinapp links the click to the order.

How is conversion tracking different from Bitly?

Bitly counts clicks, scans and referrers. directinapp does that too, then goes further: a pixel, a server postback, or a signed Razorpay/Stripe/Shopify webhook ties each sale and its rupee value back to the exact link and click that drove it.

Why it matters

01

Revenue per link, not just click counts

Bitly tells you a link got 4,000 clicks. directinapp tells you those clicks produced 37 orders worth ₹64,200 — attributed to the exact link and dia_clid click via a pixel, postback or webhook.

02

INR-native and built for Indian D2C

Amounts are recorded in rupees, and sales flow in from the gateways Indian sellers actually use — Razorpay, Stripe, Shopify and WooCommerce — with no USD-only reporting or currency guesswork.

03

Free analytics, QR, deep links and bio included

Every link ships with click/geo/device analytics, a QR code, app deep links and a link-in-bio page. Conversion tracking sits on the Business tier, which starts with a free trial.

Set it up

Three steps, no developer

01

Shorten the link you already share

Create a directinapp short link for the Instagram bio, WhatsApp broadcast or ad you're running — same destination Bitly would send people to.

02

Add a webhook or drop the pixel

Connect a signed Razorpay/Stripe/Shopify/WooCommerce webhook to auto-capture orders, or paste the GET /c pixel on your thank-you page. No gateway keys or checkout code are touched.

03

Read revenue per link

Your dashboard shows clicks and the sales they produced in ₹, matched by the dia_clid click id and the first-party dia_vid cookie — so you know which link paid for itself.

Frequently asked questions

Conversion tracking vs Bitly — which should I use for an online store?+

If you only need click counts, QR codes and short URLs, Bitly is fine. If you want to know which link earned actual sales in rupees, use directinapp's conversion tracking — its pixel, postback and payment webhooks tie completed orders back to the click.

Does Bitly show how much revenue a link made?+

No. Bitly reports clicks, referrers and locations, but not the sale or its value. directinapp records the order amount in ₹ against the exact link and the dia_clid click that drove it.

Can I keep my links if I move from Bitly?+

Yes. Create new directinapp short links for the campaigns you want to measure, point them at the same destinations, and add the pixel or a webhook. You don't have to migrate every old link at once.

How does directinapp capture a sale automatically?+

Connect a signed webhook from Razorpay, Stripe, Shopify or WooCommerce. When an order completes, the webhook posts the amount to directinapp, which matches it to the click using the dia_clid parameter or the dia_vid cookie.

Can it recognise the same buyer across their phone and laptop?+

Not yet — the visitor id (dia_vid) is a first-party cookie scoped to one browser, so cross-device matching isn't supported and is on the roadmap. Within one browser, clicks and sales are linked reliably.

Conversion tracking

Conversion tracking is measuring the real outcomes a link drives — a sale, a signup, a lead — not just the clicks. You tell your analytics tool "this counts as a conversion, worth this much," and it ties that outcome back to the link that earned it. directinapp does this on every link: fire a pixel, a postback or our drop-in dia.js script when a sale happens, and see the count, the rupee value and the conversion rate for that exact link — right down to which click and visitor drove it.

Instagram sales tracking

Yes — you can track sales and signups from an Instagram bio link or reel. Put your store or checkout behind a directinapp link, fire our pixel on your payment success page, and the Business report shows the count, rupee value and conversion rate that link drove. Even though a bio or reel is one shared link, per-visitor and per-click attribution shows which visitor and which click drove each sale — the visitor id is cookie-scoped to this browser, not the same person across devices.

vs Linktree

Linktree tells you a link got clicked. directinapp tells you it drove 12 purchases worth Rs 5,988. On any link you can fire our tracking pixel or server postback with a sale value, and the Business tier shows conversion count, total value and conversion rate per link, per currency (INR/USD/EUR/GBP/AED). Attribution now runs per-click and per-visitor (dia_clid and dia_vid), and signed webhook auto-capture for Razorpay, Stripe, Shopify and WooCommerce records a paid order automatically.

Tracking pixel

A tracking pixel for links is a tiny 1×1 image you load when a sale happens. Point an img tag at GET /c?s=SLUG&e=purchase&v=499&cur=INR and directinapp records one conversion — with its rupee value — against the link that drove it. No SDK, no cookie, no code beyond one line of HTML.

Server postbacks

A server postback records a conversion by sending a POST /conversions call from your backend to directinapp. You send JSON with the link's slug, an event name, value and currency, and the dashboard shows counts, total value and conversion rate per link. It is shipped and works today. Signed, HMAC-verified postbacks are on the roadmap.

Lead tracking

Yes — you can track leads and signups from any directinapp link today. Fire a "lead" or "signup" event from your form's thank-you page with our pixel or postback, and each link shows its lead count, conversion rate, and a per-event breakdown. Attribution ties each lead to the click and the visitor — a cookie-scoped id for this browser — that drove it; recognising the same person across devices is still on the roadmap.
